The West Virginia Class AAA state championship game is a match made in heaven.
Top-seeded unbeaten upstart Brooke, which finished 3-7 last year while South Charleston was winning the 2008 state title, will face the defending champion Black Eagles at noon Saturday in the state championship game.
Second-seeded South Charleston (12-1) held off Bridgeport (12-1) at University of Charleston Stadium by a 28-25 score in a Saturday afternoon game.
In a night game in Wellsburg, undefeated Brooke (13-0) earned a second victory of the season over University 32-15 to reach the state championship game.
In Class AA, No. 1-seeded Wayne (13-0) overcame a 21-0 halftime deficit to defeat visiting Frankfort on Saturday. On Friday night, sixth-seeded Bluefield (11-2) advanced with a 13-10 victory over Magnolia (12-1) in New Martinsville.
Wayne and Bluefield will meet on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in a rematch of the 2004 state title game won by the Pioneers 69-24.
In Class A, Madonna (13-0) makes its second consecutive appearance in the championship game when it meets Man (12-1) at 7 p.m. Saturday.
The Hillbillies held off Richwood 27-20 in SatWurday's Class A semifinal.
